Yoga Therapy Sessions

$80/hour per person

Yoga Therapy is a client-led, body-oriented therapeutic practice designed to meet you where you are, as you are. Rooted in both yoga philosophy and current research, yoga therapy blends breath, meditation, mindfulness, movement and other tools of yoga to provide holistic support for a wide variety of life’s challenges, such as persistent pain, grief and life transitions.

Sessions are available one-on-one or in small groups.

In Embodied Yoga Therapy with Ari,

You have...

  • Permission to rest
  • Permission to grieve
  • Permission to laugh, rage, cry, yawn… all of you is welcome in this space – your full human experience and all your layers.

Creatively sourcing our practices and inquiries from yoga, we will...

  • Co-assess your goals and needs
  • Flow between practice and reflection, taking time to integrate sensation, empowerment and insights that may flow forth.
  • Practice noticing what arises from within, inviting the body to be our anchor, our raft and our ocean.
  • Affirm the deep wisdom and resilience that your body already carries.
  • Facilitate a deeper connection with your own personal agency.
  • Prioritize wondering over certainty.
  • Explore ways to support our nervous systems, with an eye toward the intersections of individual and collective care.

An Introduction to Yoga Therapy at Rivertide Center,
with Arielle Herman

A person doing a standing yoga stretch, reaching with one hand toward the sky.

If you are familiar with Rivertide, you know that movement, wellness, and community are at the heart of our work.

I’m thrilled to now offer Embodied Yoga Therapy at Rivertide Center. A yoga and aikido instructor of many years, I have undertaken a three-year advanced education from the School of Embodied Yoga Therapy. Upon completing my practicum, I will be certifying through the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Practicum Project: Activism and Collective Care

The focus of my practicum project is to support activists working toward collective well-being. The story that has been rising up for me, is that as our activist communities are increasingly targeted by our volatile political situation, support for them may not be meeting the intensity of their work. I am looking to explore ways that nervous system (co)regulation can help to nourish the work of activism alongside the well-being of activists. Some of the challenges faced by those on the front lines of activism that yoga therapy may help to address include exhaustion, insomnia, overwhelm, anger, and grief.

Who I Work With

I am currently accepting clients for in-person one-on-one or small group sessions at Rivertide Center. I happily work with all genders, as well as with nontraditional relationships and lifestyles. I am comfortable working with people who identify as nonreligious, deeply religious, spiritual or none of the above. No previous yoga experience is needed. Yoga therapy integrates well with care from medical professionals and other wellness providers. If you or your organization would benefit from personalized support, let’s connect.

A Note on Transparency & Safety

I recognize that safety is personal and requires transparency on the part of care providers and a strong sense of self-agency for clients. I am a cisgender white woman who identifies as queer, nonbinary, and dedicated to social justice & community care. If this resonates with you, i’d love to work together.
