FAQ

Many studies point to three key elements that often help people successfully stick with any movement practice.

One is finding a practice that you enjoy!

I know it may seem obvious, but it is amazing how many people think that you need to suffer to reap the health benefits of moving your body. At Rivertide you can explore an array of movement practices, from rigorous to gentle, from fast-paced to slow and flowing, from interactive to independent – so chances are good that you may just find the right practice for you. Even a gentle practice or a brief practice can offer huge benefits if you do it regularly.

The next piece is, well, exercising regularly!

Lots of folx get caught in the loop of wondering whether they have the motivation to go do the thing, and wonder how others have the time, the energy, and the inspiration to work out. The biggest secret is: many of us don’t! The trick is making it part of your schedule – the more you do it, the more it becomes “patterned” into your days and into your body and mind. Do you find yourself sitting around weighing the pros and cons of brushing your teeth every day? I didn’t think so… you probably do it without pausing, without even thinking about it, because it has become ingrained as a healthy habit. You can do this with exercise too!

The third big piece is the
support of community

A fitness community like the one at Rivertide Center provides accountability, motivation, encouragement, and a sense of belonging, making it easier to stay consistent with fitness goals. Community has also been found to enhance the benefits of exercise itself, including greater increases in stress relief and improvements in mood.
