If you’re interested in focused martial arts training in a welcoming community of like-minded students, Rivertide Aikido is for you! You will learn techniques that employ circular movements, timing, and blending to neutralize attacks with throws or joint locks. Your training in Aikido will develop mental focus and neuroplasticity, nervous system regulation, core strength, balance, and flexibility. Our emphasis on a cooperative training model has proven to keep beginners safe and everyone having fun!
Weapons Work in Aikido
Self-defense? What if the attacker has a weapon? Aikido will teach you footwork and body movement to keep you safe. When you train with a bokken (wooden sword), a jo (short staff) or a tanto (wooden knife), you work on awareness of distance, timing, and body manipulation, bringing a deeper understanding to empty-handed Aikido techniques.
Classes are led by Chief Instructor Patrick Gaucher.
Rivertide Center is fully accessible and ADA-compliant.
